DCI COBRA Kids: STEM Academy provides hands-on interactive learning opportunity for students to further explore the wonders of engineering.

The curriculum includes tours, lectures, laboratory work, demonstrations, and team projects designed to help students develop their math, science, and engineering skills while having fun.
Participants have the opportunity to explore several different areas of engineering through workplace tours, group projects, and presentations by students, faculty, and industry professionals. Students build their problem-solving skills by working to find solutions to real-world engineering design problems. Participants also have the opportunity to virtualy visit local engineering facilities to see different types of engineers at work.

The website states elementary and middle, what exactly are the ages?"COBRA Kids is open to all 1st Grade to 8 Grade Students. We offer different actvities for 1st- 4th and 5th-8th grades in order to ensure they can be challanged as well as enjoy building the activity of the day.

How long is the camp?The camp is August 9th-10th, Monday- Friday 9:00am-3:00pm.

Does the camp include lunch?Unfortunately the camp is not able to provide lunch for the students at this time. We ask that the parents ensure that the students have their lunches before they get dropped off in the morning.

What will the students do all day?The students will enjoy brief presentations on a engineering or construction related topic, build activies related to the topic or another stem topic, and have outdoor time after lunch.

Since this is a new program, are the teachers screened or is there protocol for insuring the kids are not left alone with any adult? "All members and volunteers have/will undergo a screening process and background checks. The children will never be left alone with any adults and all trips will be virtual. Our main classroom location is within a few feet of the restroom and all breaks will be done in groups. I truly understand your concerns and assure you that the safety of the students and the integrity of this developing program is a priority.

Will there be mask breaks?There will be mask breaks and about an 1 hour after lunch where the students will be outside with multiple activity options.
